Kaori means "fragrant" in Japanese, perfectly reflecting the character of this distinctive tea. It is produced from organically grown leaves of the Benifuki cultivar, which are briefly withered before steaming.

This unusual processing method encourages the development of aromatic compounds and creates a flavour profile quite different from that of a traditional Japanese green tea.

The tea contains very little of the grassy or seaweed-like character commonly associated with sencha. Instead, it offers elegant floral notes reminiscent of freesia, gentle fruity sweetness and a long, pleasantly aromatic finish.

Its character may remind some drinkers of lightly oxidised oolong teas, making it an excellent introduction for those who have not yet developed a taste for more traditional Japanese green teas..
