Tai Ping Hou Kui 太平猴魁, "Monkey Chief", is a top grade of one of the ten best and most famous Chinese green teas.

It is grown in the Huangshan (Yellow Mountain) region, specifically in Taiping County, Anhui Province, China. The misty mountains and rich soil in this area contribute to the exceptional quality of the tea.

The leaves are hand-pressed flat during processing, which gives them a distinctive and elegant appearance. They are 5 to 7 cm long, flat and sword-shaped, with a bright green color.

The aroma has hints of orchids and the taste is delicate, sweet and refreshing with floral and fruity notes.

Similar teas (with sharp and pointed large leaves) were produced in Tai Ping a thousand years ago, even before the beginning of the Ming Dynasty.
