This competition-grade Sencha originates from Shiga Prefecture and is crafted from the Yabukita cultivar, which has long been considered the benchmark of quality among Japanese green teas.

It offers a harmonious balance of grassy freshness, gentle umami, and delicate sweetness, resulting in a clean, full-bodied taste.

In Japanese tea competitions, every detail matters – from the colour of the infusion to the shape of the dry leaves.
The finest teas are made from slender, needle-shaped leaves, carefully hand-selected to achieve both visual and flavour perfection.
Such teas are produced only in small, limited batches, created especially for competition.

The tea master who produced this batch was awarded at the 77th National Tea Competition (2023), one of Japan’s most respected contests.

His teas are among the most highly regarded in Japan, and through our direct partnerships we have obtained a few rare packs of this year’s competition batch for our customers.
