Shiga Sencha Yabukita - 50g

This competition sencha comes from Shiga Prefecture and was made from the Yabukita cultivar. Yabukita has long been a standard variety in Japan and has dominated competitions. It has a well-balanced grassiness with umami and sweetness and a pleasant rich flavour.

In the Japanese tea competition, not only the colour and flavour but also the appearance of the tea itself is judged. It is said that the best leaf should be small, thin and straight as a needle. Therefore, the growers hand-pick the most beautiful leaves that have a needle-like shape and make a special batch of them for the competition.

This tea took 1st place in the Shiga tea category at 'The 76th Kansai Tea Competition' held on 9 September 2024, scoring 191/200 points.
