An exceptional sheng Pu Erh from Ban Pen 班盆 in the Bulang Mountains, Menghai County, Yunnan Province.

It comes from ancient tea trees over 100 years old, growing at an altitude of approximately 1,600 metres, just 2 km from the legendary Lao Ban Zhang area. The tea trees grow naturally in the mountain forest among bamboo and camphor trees. The high-altitude climate, abundant rainfall and mineral-rich soil give the tea its distinctive character, depth and natural sweetness.

The tea leaves come from the first spring harvest of 2026 and are traditionally processed using "sha qing" fixation, rolling and sun-drying (shai qing). Without artificial fermentation, the tea retains its freshness, complexity and excellent potential for long-term ageing.

The aroma is elegant, with notes of orchid, honey and dried fruit.

The liquor is light yellow-green to golden in colour. Its full-bodied, silky-smooth flavour offers a gentle astringency that quickly gives way to a long-lasting sweetness (hui gan). With ageing, the liquor develops deeper orange to amber hues, characteristic of well-aged, high-quality Pu Erh teas.

This sheng Pu Erh has a pronounced Cha Qi (茶氣) – the traditional "tea energy" associated with a sense of vitality and a calm, balanced mind. It can yield approximately 15 – 20 infusions.

With each successive infusion, layers of floral, mineral and fresh mountain notes gradually unfold.

Thanks to its origin from ancient tea trees and traditional processing, this tea is enjoyable now while also offering excellent potential for further natural ageing.

Preparation:

Using the traditional Gong Fu Cha method, you can easily prepare 15 to 20 full-bodied infusions. The tea evolves—starting with fresh floral and honey notes, transitioning to mineral and fruity tones, and finishing with a delicate, lingering sweetness (*Hui Gan*).

We recommend the Gong Fu Cha preparation method with a ratio of approximately 6 – 7 g of tea per 100 ml of water.
Use water heated to 95 – 100°C.

First, briefly rinse the leaves, and steep the initial infusions for only a few seconds (5–8 seconds). Gradually increase the steeping time according to your taste preference. High-quality leaves can yield approximately 15–20 infusions, with each subsequent steep revealing new layers of aroma and flavour.
