Japanese ceremonial matcha made from the relatively rare Ujihikari cultivar, grown in the tea-famous region of Uji. The tea bushes were traditionally shade-grown for one month before harvest.
This cultivar was developed by the Tea Research Center in Kyoto Prefecture.
Ujimidori was bred in 1983 under the name Kyoken No. 307 (京研307号) by selecting native tea plants from the Uji region.
This product represents a more ecological and economical alternative – it comes without the decorative tea tin, containing only the matcha itself in a metallic bag.
