Japanese ceremonial matcha made from the relatively rare Ujihikari variety grown in the famous Uji tea region. The bushes were shaded in the traditional way 1 month before plucking.
This is a variety bred by the Kyoto Prefectural Tea Research Centre. Ujihikari, was bred in 1954 under the name Kyoken Nº170 京研170号, by selecting an indigenous tea tree species from the Uji area.
This product is both a more environmentally friendly and more economical alternative. It does not include a tea box, only matcha tea in a metallic bag.
