GABA Green Taiwan is a unique Taiwanese green tea processed using a special anaerobic method, which naturally increases the GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) content in the tea leaves. Originally developed in Japan and later refined in Taiwan, this technique produces teas with an exceptionally smooth and balanced character.
Compared to traditional green teas, GABA Green offers a softer, gently sweet flavour profile, with notes of ripe fruit, and a subtle creamy texture. The infusion is mellow, well-rounded and low in bitterness, making it approachable even for those new to green tea.
This tea is especially appreciated by tea enthusiasts who value mindful tea rituals, craftsmanship and the cultural depth behind carefully processed teas.
GABA tea is popular among those seeking a natural way to support their physical and mental well-being.
To be named a GABA tea, the tea must contain a minimum of 150 mg of GABA amino acid per 100 g of leaf. Our Taiwanese GABA teas have approximately 250 mg/100 g.

GABA - gamma-aminobutyric acid is known for its calming effects on the nervous system, helping to promote relaxation, improve sleep quality, and reduce stress. GABA is a naturally occurring neurotransmitter in the human body that plays an essential role in regulating nerve activity.
Nowadays, intensive research is being conducted in Japan on gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) and its positive effects on neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and multiple sclerosis. Scientific studies have also confirmed that insufficient production of GABA in the human body may be one of the causes of epileptic seizures.
Many health benefits of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) are already well-documented:
- Calms the nervous system,
- Reduces stress levels and improves sleep,
- Helps alleviate headaches caused by mental overload,
- Relieves depression and anxiety,
- Regulates blood pressure and helps prevent hypertension and heart diseases,
- Enhances brain oxygenation, improving focus, perception, and learning ability,
- Increases collagen production, making the skin supple and less wrinkled,
